Hey! I’m Peter Albrecht – a film and media composer based in Frankfurt, Germany – and I’d love to share a few things about myself and my work with you.
Since graduating from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, I've been composing and producing music for film, television, and visual media. What defines my work is that it doesn't follow a single genre or template. My experience spans feature films, documentaries, series, and commercials for international brands.
Awards & Recognition
In 2025, I won the Deutscher Filmmusikpreis in the Young Talent category. My work has also received the Clio Music Award and honors at the First Steps Award, Young Director Award, and the German Business Film Award. Several films I've scored — including VENA, Schlechte Menschen, and Majini — have been recognized at national and international festivals.
Selected Projects
My scoring work includes the Grimme-nominated ZDF series Schlechte Menschen, the German Film Award-nominated feature VENA (dir. Chiara Fleischhacker), the documentary Denn dieses Leben lebst nur du (dir. Douglas Wolfsperger), and commercials for brands including Mercedes-Benz, Lamy, VITRA, and Deloitte.
Philosophy
What excites me most about composing is the unique role music plays in storytelling – its ability to reveal what the image cannot say. It can shift the tone of a scene, amplify emotions, or take the audience somewhere entirely unexpected. Even when barely perceived, music holds presence. Sometimes, it becomes a character of its own – filled with tension, atmosphere, and subtext.
What draws me to a project is often the emotional complexity beneath the surface. I'm particularly moved by characters who feel internally alone despite being surrounded by others – moments where music becomes an inner voice, giving shape to what cannot be spoken. I'm fascinated by stories where identity begins to fracture, where social pressure distorts reality, or where a world built on order slowly reveals the cracks beneath. And I'm deeply drawn to stories where human connection makes transformation possible – not through grand gestures, but through subtle shifts and earned hope.
I'm not interested in decorating a film. I'm interested in understanding its emotional core – and helping it speak on a deeper level.
Working closely with directors is essential to me. I value the dialogue that turns abstract ideas into sound – shaping a musical identity that feels emotionally true and narratively grounded.
Background & Training
My journey into music wasn't linear. I started with piano, then moved to drums, guitar, and synthesizers. After performing in bands, I discovered that writing my own music gave me the creative freedom I was searching for — leading me into electronic music and a deep interest in harmony and structure. I studied musicology at Goethe University Frankfurt, exploring a wide range of musical eras and genres.
At the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, I translated that foundation into hands-on experience, composing for over 40 film projects across genres and formats — including conducting the Žilina Symphony Orchestra and recording with the Babelsberg Film Orchestra.

I’m truly honored and incredibly proud that the music I compose helps bring stories to life on screen.
