Peter Albrecht

Hey! I’m Peter Albrecht – a film and media composer based in Frankfurt, Germany – and I’d love to share a few things about myself and my work with you.
Since graduating from the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, I’ve been passionately composing and producing music for film, television, and visual media. What defines my work is that it doesn’t follow a single genre or template. My experience spans feature films, documentaries, series, podcasts, and commercials for international brands.
What excites me most about composing is the unique role music plays in storytelling – its ability to reveal what the image cannot say. It can shift the tone of a scene, amplify emotions, or take the audience somewhere entirely unexpected. Even when barely perceived, music holds presence. Sometimes, it becomes a character of its own – filled with tension, atmosphere, and subtext.
Working closely with directors is essential to me. I value the dialogue that turns abstract ideas into sound – shaping a musical identity that feels emotionally true and narratively grounded. These conversations, the trust and shared vision, are where the most meaningful scores begin.
My journey into music wasn’t linear – and that’s what shaped it. I started with piano, then moved to drums, guitar, and synthesizers. After performing in bands, I discovered that writing my own music gave me the creative freedom I was searching for. That led me into electronic music and eventually to a deep interest in harmony and structure. I studied musicology at Goethe University in Frankfurt, where I explored a wide range of musical eras and genres – a foundation that now informs my scoring work every day.
At the Filmakademie, I translated that foundation into hands-on experience, composing for over 40 film projects across genres and formats. Highlights included conducting orchestras such as the Žilina Symphony Orchestra and recording original scores with the Babelsberg Film Orchestra – experiences that profoundly shaped my musical identity.
I’m proud that several of the films I’ve scored have been recognized internationally. My work has received awards such as the Clio Music Award and honors at major festivals including the First Steps Award, Young Director Award, and the German Business Film Award. In 2025, I won the Deutscher Filmmusikpreis in the Young Talent category — an acknowledgment that deeply motivates and humbles me as a composer.
Cheers,
A glimpse behind the scenes: I had the incredible opportunity to compose the score for the feature film VENA. In this short behind-the-scenes video, I take you into the studio to share how the music for the big screen came to life. Enjoy diving into my world of film composition
Meet OTIS my studio assistant.
He spends most of his time lying under the desk, listening to film scores in progress and occasionally demanding breaks (usually for walks or snacks). I like to think he’s my most loyal critic – he never says much, but his tail wags always tell me when a cue feels right.

I’m truly honored and incredibly proud that the music I compose helps bring stories to life on screen.
Seeing the projects I’ve scored receive industry recognition genuinely excites me – it’s a rewarding feeling to know that my cinematic soundtracks contribute to their success. I am deeply grateful to the talented teams I’ve had the privilege to work with, whose creativity and vision make these achievements possible.
