The Music

Creating these pieces was an extraordinary experience, marked by a unique collaboration with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg. Recording with such a prestigious ensemble was truly an honor – hearing the first notes resonate through the hall was nothing short of breathtaking.

A particularly special moment came when I had the opportunity to conduct the pieces once again with the Symphony Orchestra in Žilina, Slovakia. Experiencing the music from the conductor’s podium was surreal – the energy, the precision, and the sheer power of the live orchestra were unforgettable.

One of the most challenging aspects was restricting the instrumentation to a “classical” orchestral setup. In my usual compositional approach, I often work digitally or with hybrid arrangements, where adding another violin or a horn is just a click away. This time, every choice had to be deliberate – not just artistically but practically. Is it playable? Does it fit within the orchestral balance? Achieving the equilibrium of a real orchestra was a unique challenge, but also immensely rewarding.

Looking back, I’m proud of how it turned out. As my first attempt at orchestral writing, I believe these pieces successfully convey the intended emotions and tonal diversity. The journey was full of challenges and learning moments, but ultimately, it enriched me as a composer and deepened my connection to orchestral music.
